This is one of the supports for the exhaust pipe. Most mechanics when they work on the exhaust, leave off the center one. This is an issue with 4x4 as without it, it leaves the flexible exhaust pipe joint lower than the sump guard, which means that it can be hit with ramps / the ground when the wheels enter a rut etc. This can tear the flexible joint which its repair / replacement it more than the €3 / €4 cost for this rubber mount.
